Oh NO!   A DNR Citation

Are You Serious?

A crazy and stupid ticket.  Jerry and his friend Jack were with me at Aunt Ella’s.  I was working on her pier while Jerry and Jack were fishing from a neighbor’s dock.  At some point Jerry got his line all tangled while casting.  I went to help.

After solving the mess, I tried casting to make sure it was working properly.  One cast then I went back to work on the pier. Out of nowhere a DNR warden came in, by boat, and wrote me a ticket for unlicensed fishing.   The boys were young enough not to need a license. I explained the situation.  He had no sympathy!  I am sure that he was watching us with his binoculars at some distance.  He had to know it was one casting and done.

That is what we call a “cheap ticket”. He said I could take it up in court.  I did.  I pled no contest and got a reduced fine.  It came up during my interview for a police job.  They really do a background check! I never thought such a meaningless ticket would show-up in my background.  But alas I got the job.
